If you like unique this one is certainly for you. This is a blooming size Psychiopsis orchid in a 3" pot. This plant is simliar to a mule ear Oncidium in its growth habit except these have mottled foliage that is red and green. Mariposa as a light red motteling to the foliage and produces a long spike that produces a very unique orange an yellow bloom. This is one that once it spikes you dont want to cut the spike because it can sequentially bloom for quite some time.Psychopsis Mariposa
Psychopsis Mariposa is a highly unique orchid often called a “Butterfly Orchid” because of its striking, butterfly-like blooms. The flowers are beautifully patterned with shades of yellow, orange, red, and brown, creating an exotic display that stands out in any orchid collection.
One of the most exciting features of Psychopsis is its ability to bloom sequentially from the same flower spike. Once established, a healthy plant may continue producing flowers from the same spike over an extended period of time, so spikes should not be cut unless they are fully brown and dried. The American Orchid Society notes that Psychopsis inflorescences can reflower for many years.
Psychopsis Mariposa has attractive foliage with upright pseudobulbs and firm leaves, often showing a mottled or patterned appearance. This orchid is a great choice for collectors looking for something unusual, long-lasting, and very different from more common orchid varieties.
General Care:
Grow in bright, filtered light with good air movement. Psychopsis generally prefers warm to intermediate temperatures and should be watered regularly while actively growing, allowing the media to approach dryness between waterings. Avoid keeping the plant overly wet, especially around new growths, as Psychopsis can be sensitive to rot when moisture and poor air movement are combined.
A beautiful and fascinating orchid, Psychopsis Mariposa is perfect for growers who enjoy unusual blooms, sequential flowering, and orchids with a truly tropical appearance.
Shipping Disclaimer & Customer Responsibility
To provide customers with more reliable shipping options, UPS has been added as an available shipping method and will be the primary carrier used for most orders going forward. Multiple shipping options may be available at checkout, so please carefully select the shipping method that best fits your needs.
Due to increasing USPS delays and delivery issues, especially during colder months, I strongly recommend choosing the fastest and most reliable shipping option available for your location. Once a package has been accepted by the carrier, delivery times, delays, missing packages, and carrier handling are outside of my control. I cannot be responsible for late, delayed, lost, or missing packages caused by the shipping carrier.
If you strongly prefer USPS, please select the USPS shipping option at checkout and send me a message letting me know that you prefer USPS over UPS.
Heat Pack Notice
If purchasing a heat pack, please do not purchase it separately. Heat packs should be added to the same order as your plant. A heat pack does add additional weight to the package. I do not charge a separate package fee for the heat pack, but please consider the added weight when selecting your shipping option.
Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Island Destinations
For orders shipping to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, or other island locations, please do not choose Ground shipping. Ground shipping can take extended time to reach these areas, which increases the risk of plant stress or damage during transit. I cannot be responsible for upgrading shipping after checkout or for plant damage caused by delayed transit due to the shipping method selected by the buyer.
Flower Spikes and Blooms
I take great care in packing plants securely for transit. However, I cannot guarantee flower spikes, buds, or blooms once the plant leaves my care. Shipping carriers may mishandle, delay, tilt, crush, or expose packages to conditions that can damage delicate spikes or blooms.
I typically avoid selling plants in spike or bloom, but I know how exciting it can be to receive a plant with flowers, so I do offer them when available. Please understand that spikes, buds, and blooms are not guaranteed during shipping.
Thank you for your continued support. My goal is to provide healthy, quality plants while also giving customers the best shipping options available to help them arrive safely.
